Situation: Simonsberg Mountain, Stellenbosch Small batches of selectively hand-picked fruit were carefully chosen to create this wine. Primary fermentation occurred in tanks, followed by Malolactic Fermentation (MLF) in 20% new French and American and 80% 2nd-fill barrels. Creative blending after 9 months, followed by a further 7 months’ oak maturation, ensured complete integration of wood with fruit aromas and flavours.

Twleve hectares of vineyards have been planted, and although much smaller than the Montalcino estate with its vast forests, Ghiacco Forte remains a stunning location. Scansano, founded at the time of the Etruscans, developed in the middle ages into an important civic center. It is recognized around the world for its Morellino di Scansano wine, although that name was given rather recently. The area, notable for its unspoiled nature and arid hills, lies 150 meters above sea level only 20 kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The combination of altitude, southwestern exposure, rich volcanic soil and the nearby Fiume Albegna, which flows from the sulfuric springs of Saturnia, create in Scansano one of Italy’s most unique microclimates.

Although we had a dry winter, there was plenty of water when required in the hot summer months to get the vineyards to mature naturally without undue stress. At harvest, perfect phenolic ripeness with lovely soft, ripe tannins was achieved. The berries came in at lovely low sugars due to cool conditions at harvest, awesome colour and great quality berries. In addition to being cultivated by hand, we only use organic treatments in the vinyard, without synthetic fertilizers and without manipulating the natural processes of cultivation. Alicante Mediterranean flavors: In BODEGAS Bocopa, we are committed to both tradition and future. The combined expertise and dedication of our winemakers David Llopis, Juani Madrigal and Tony Santonja, who are responsible for monitoring each and every one of our vineyards, every moment of the year, have brought about some of the finest organic wines in Spain. Certified by the Organic Farming Committee of the Community of Valencia, our wines thoroughly reflect the charm of a wilderness, full of life and character and permeated by a Mediterranean flavor: ALICANTE. The vineyard: This selection of grapes has been made between our traditional vineyard and rainfed plots by selecting those best suited for the development of young wines, while the other varieties are grown in irrigated trellis support that will allow for completion of the necessary maturity. Performance: 5,000 kg per hectare. Age of vines: An average of 20 years. Climate: Mediterranean continental, with little rain and concentrated in autumn and late spring, with cold winters and hot weather and no rainfall ranging from flowering until the end of ripening. Soil: The soils are clear, improving solar refraction, nutrient-poor and rich in lime and active, making it impossible to obtain high yields but easily harness the information available for the plant. Important: The soils have a clay base and high levels of elected thick stones making them permeable and fresh. Harvest Date: October. Maturation and harvest: strict monitoring of ripening in the field, until the optimum time for the harvest has been reached. This vintage is made with a wide range of grapes, carefully, fairly and quickly as possible. Fermentation: all of the skins for 6 days at approx. 26 degrees TASTING NOTE: After a long maceration and controlled fermentation, this wine presents us with a beautiful dress, broad and intense. Color: Gorgeous ripe cherry tones and purple sustained. Aroma: Marked by the variety, fruity, with expressions of ripe raspberry and blackberry. Taste: Big, warm and fleshy with an expression of its youthful elegant tannic, expanding into a long and broad taste that will evolve correctly. Accompanied well by appetizers, cheeses, pates, ham, rice, vegetables and meat.

Opis The kernel for Pezat is a vineyard planted literally a pace outside of the Saint Emilion Appellation - towards the river from Château Teyssier near to Branne. Previously this large vineyard consisted of high trellised vines planted 3 metres apart - the norm in Entre-des-Mers where grapes are machine picked. Planting down the middle of the rows gave the same density as a vineyard in Saint Emilion. Additionally, on the original vines, a sucker-per-vine was allowed to grow. At which stage the original vine was cut off, almost halving the height of the vines down to what one would expect from a ... This has a well defined nose with baked red cherries, a touch of briary and a hint of chalk dust. Simple on the palate, nicely balanced, crisp blackberry with a touch of pepper on the finish. This is a fine Bordeaux Superieur from Jonathan Maltus. Wine Spectator POINTS 86-89 - Pure, with a lightly firm damson plum and pomegranate frame to the core of blackberry and black currant. A mineral edge is starting to show on the finish. —J.M. Robvert Parker POINTS 86-88 - An excellent effort from Jonathan Maltus, this value-priced, lower-level Bordeaux is normally a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. The 2010 is exactly what one expects from an inexpensive but well-made Bordeaux. Soft tannins, deep berry fruit, a nice, medium-bodied, fleshy texture, and clean finish all make for a delicious wine to drink in its first 3-4 years of life. Drink: 2011/15.
